Ding Dong Cake

Ingredients
- 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1¼ cups water
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup white sugar
- ¾ cup shortening, divided
- ½ cup butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- Prepare the chocolate cake batter using pudding mix, water, eggs, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes completely.
- For the filling, cook milk and flour in a saucepan until thickened, then cool completely.
- Beat sugar, butter, shortening, and vanilla until fluffy. Add cooled milk mixture and beat until creamy.
- Spread filling between cake layers.
- Heat heavy cream and pour over chocolate chips. Stir until smooth.
- Pour chocolate glaze over the cake and spread evenly.
- Chill before slicing.
