Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup water, room temperature

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • ½ package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

For the Filling

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup softened butter

For the Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, water, melted butter, egg, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add bread flour, pudding mix, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead dough for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll dough tightly into a log and slice into rolls.
  7. Place rolls into a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. For the frosting, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  10. Spread frosting over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
