Ingredients
- 1 large French bread loaf
- 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded provolone or white cheddar
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the center to make room for the filling. Set aside.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté until soft, about 5–6 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
- Add thinly sliced steak to the pan. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook just until browned, 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- In a bowl, combine steak mixture with both cheeses. Mix until melted slightly.
- Brush inside of bread with melted butter or garlic butter for extra flavor. Stuff the bread evenly with the steak-cheese mixture.
- Place the stuffed halves on a baking sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes until bread is crispy and cheese is melted.
- Slice into thick pieces, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve hot!
