Ingredients

For the Sausage Gravy

  • 1 pound pork breakfast sausage
  • 3 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 3/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Casserole

  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  3. Add the butter and melt completely. Sprinkle in the flour and cook for 1 minute while stirring.
  4. Slowly whisk in the whole milk until smooth. Stir continuously until the gravy thickens.
  5. Season the gravy with kosher salt and black pepper. Remove from the heat.
  6. Cut each biscuit into quarters and spread them evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, 1/3 cup milk, and onion powder.
  8. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the biscuits.
  9. Spoon the sausage gravy over the eggs and biscuits.
  10. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  11. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set, the biscuits are cooked through, and the cheese is melted and golden.
  12. Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

  • Prepare the casserole the night before and refrigerate until ready to bake.
