Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread loaf
  • 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or white cheddar
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the center to make room for the filling. Set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté until soft, about 5–6 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.
  3. Add thinly sliced steak to the pan. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook just until browned, 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat.
  4. In a bowl, combine steak mixture with both cheeses. Mix until melted slightly.
  5. Brush inside of bread with melted butter or garlic butter for extra flavor. Stuff the bread evenly with the steak-cheese mixture.
  6. Place the stuffed halves on a baking sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes until bread is crispy and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice into thick pieces, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve hot!
