Ingredients
- 1½ lbs boneless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-size pieces
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Honey Garlic Sauce:
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or white vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (for slurry)
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge in cornstarch, dip into beaten eggs, and coat again in cornstarch for an extra crispy crust.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and fully cooked. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a small saucepan, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and garlic. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Mix cornstarch with water to make a slurry, then stir into the sauce. Simmer until thickened, about 1–2 minutes.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until fully coated. Serve hot, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Why This Recipe Works
This dish combines the best of both worlds: crispy fried chicken and a sticky, flavorful sauce. The cornstarch coating makes the crust extra crunchy, while the quick honey garlic glaze adds bold flavor without overpowering the chicken. It’s easy, delicious, and always crowd-pleasing — a deesviral favorite!
Storage & Reheating
- Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat: For best crispness, reheat in the oven or air fryer. Microwave for a softer texture.
- Make Ahead: You can fry the chicken ahead and refrigerate. Reheat and toss in fresh sauce before serving.
