Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, plus extra for topping
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup melted butter or vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly coated with the flour mixture.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Sprinkle additional shredded cheddar cheese over the top for an extra cheesy crust.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the loaf is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Slice and serve warm with butter, soups, chili, pasta, or your favorite hearty meal.
