Ingredients
- 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges each
- 2 cans crescent roll dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Wrap each apple wedge in a crescent roll triangle and place all dumplings snugly in the baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until combined.
- Pour the butter mixture evenly over all dumplings.
- Pour the Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan (avoid pouring directly on top).
- Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
Serving Tips
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for a classic pairing.
- Add a drizzle of caramel for extra sweetness.
- Use peaches or pears instead of apples for a fun variation.
Why This Recipe Works
The Mountain Dew lightly caramelizes with the butter and sugar, creating a glossy, rich sauce that soaks into the crescent dough. The apples become perfectly tender, while the tops stay crisp and golden. It’s simple, nostalgic, and always a hit — a true deesviral classic.
