Ingredients
For the Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Filling (Example: Cheese & Herbs)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or feta cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, yogurt, and oil. Mix and knead into a soft dough (about 8–10 minutes by hand or mixer).
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled.
- Meanwhile, prepare your filling by mixing cheese, herbs, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Divide the dough into 6–8 balls. Roll each ball into a small circle, place some filling in the center, and pinch edges to seal.
- Gently flatten filled dough balls with your hands or a rolling pin.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook each flatbread 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and puffed.
- Brush with melted butter (optional) and serve warm.
Storage
- Fridge: Store cooked flatbreads in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer: Wrap individually and freeze up to 1 month. Reheat in a pan or oven.
Tips & Variations
- Try other fillings like mashed potatoes, sautéed onions, minced beef, or spicy ground chicken.
- Add garlic powder or herbs to the dough for more flavor.
- Use whole wheat flour for a slightly denser, healthier version.
